About
Hey, my name is Nola (aka Noah). I am an interdisciplinary theater artist from Philadelphia. I graduated from NYU Tisch with a BFA in theater arts and an anthropology minor in 2022.
As a director + writer, I create work with a practice of tenderness, humor, and circumstantial awareness that generates avant-garde yet intimate pieces of work. My directorial debut of an in-person play, Kinderkrankenhaus, balanced difficult concepts surrounding eugenics and othering with childhood play and resistance under impossible circumstances. I also create video art, digital theater, and auditory plays. I am a Stage Manager for Mercury Store, where I manage weeklong workshops for new ideas. I'm also an actor and have performed with ensembles at The Kraine, H0l0, Grace Exhibition Space, Irondale, Chaos Computer, and The Brick. I work at a museum for posters.
I have a collaborative practice honed by a multitude of projects as a stage manager and producer. I believe in cultivating a space of mutual respect for each other and the time that we share and value planning, scheduling, and punctuality when leading a project. From my gallery upbringing and working in downtown theaters across New York, I am keenly aware of how space, whether that be exhibition room, theater, or the screen can influence the storytelling done within space.
